Brasserie De Hen

Brasserie De Hen

My good friends Mila and Ellie told me that Brasserie De Hen in Beveren is super ‘dog friendly’. They dropped something about ‘biscuits served on a plate’, and I didn’t need more words to convince myself to cross ‘t Scheld.

You will find this gem at the intersection of two rural East Flemish roads. The outside doesn’t look very special right away. But as soon as you step inside, you are overcome by a family atmosphere, including a burning stove and two very enthusiastic young men who clearly have a big heart for dogs.

Ella and Mila are regular customers here and I noticed that immediately from the warm welcome they received!

The ladies and I got a table with a view on the terrace. Our pawrents hadn’t even sat down before we were already poured with a delicious fresh bowl of water.

Mila whispered to me that she hoped her dogmom would order the Eel in the Green. A typical Flemish dish that you only come across on few brasserie menus.

I, for my part, hoped for some wild boar and my wish was granted! However, I didn’t got to taste it: it was clearly too tasty because ‘sharing is caring’ was not the issue.

The waiters must have noticed the drool marks that the smell  brought on me…

Because yes, here they came with the long-awaited plates of cookies, one for each of us. Mila, Ellie and I got our own plate
“Snacks du porc sur un lit d’amour”
